Powerful Spirit
Paul was a famous letter-writer in the Bible. He liked to write letters to new Christians in order to encourage and teach them. It wasn’t always easy for people to identify as Christians (not unlike now!) so Paul wanted to encourage them in their new-found faith (You can read about it in Ephesians 1:15-23).

Here are some of the things he said in a letter to a group of believers in the city of Ephesus:

I’ve heard of your faith – wonderful!
I’ve heard of your love for one another – that’s a natural outcome of coming together as Christians.
I pray for you daily – prayer is a powerful thing we can do for one another.
I pray that God will help you to learn more about Him and grow closer to Him.
I pray for your heart – that you will embrace the power that God provides through His Holy Spirit.
And finally – I pray that you will realize what a powerful God you love, serve and share with others!

Paul also wrote a letter of encouragement to a group of believers in the city Colossae (You can read about it in Colossians 1:1-14).

He hasn’t even met them but he has heard of their remarkable faith.
He particularly commends them for the love and joy they share with others.
He prays that the Holy Spirit will give them the knowledge of God’s will, as well as wisdom and understanding.
He reminds them that God has rescued them from a bad future and replaced it with one of hope, love, joy and expectation of a relationship forever with Jesus.
