Trust Me
Is it hard for you to trust? What are some of the things (some good and some perhaps not so good) in which we place our trust? (hint: people, financial institutions, every bridge we drive over, etc.)
In the Bible, David expresses his trust, patience, and confidence in God. Here are some of his words:
Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge. (Psalm 62:1-2, 5-8)

Look back through this passage and notice some of the words David used to express his trust in God. Do you feel like you have that level of trust? What would you list as examples of your level of trust? Don’t be afraid to be honest with yourself. Most people struggle with trust and are constantly evaluating and navigating their changing level with it. Think of a time when you felt isolated or totally out of your “comfort zone.” Did trusting God for the outcome impact your feelings about the situation?
Notice the “word pictures” David uses. In your mind visualize the objects to which he refers. Let these images bring you comfort, particularly during difficult fearful times like a job loss, bad health, or a serious relationship struggle. Let Jesus be the Rock to which you cling when things around you are scary and challenging.
