And Give You Peace
And Give You Peace
On September 6, 1997 the world paused to turn their attention, and their televisions, to the funeral service of Princess Diana who died tragically in an automobile accident. Toward the end of the service, the Archbishop invited: “Therefore, confident in the love and mercy of God, holding a living faith in God's mighty resurrection power, we, the congregation here, those in the streets outside and the millions around the world, join one another and the hosts of heaven, as we say together, in whatever language we may choose, the prayer which Jesus taught us…” and millions of people across the globe joined to say the Lord’s prayer.
Did you see it? Did you join in the prayer?
What is the largest gathering for worship that you can recall participating in?
When you feel alone or apart, remember you are part of a vast Christian Community!
By the way… The day before Diana’s funeral, Mother Teresa died. Her passing was overshadowed by Diana’s, yet the multitude of heaven (angels) welcomed her to her heavenly home!
God is always present to guide, protect, and love us. Consider Psalm 25:1, 4-9
4 Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
8 Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
Look back through this passage and note how God is described.
Now reread through and note those things the author is requesting of God. Are these your requests as well?

We are blessed by a patient God! We read in Nehemiah 9:17 “But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.” What comfort! In addition to the relationship we share with Him through Christ, He has made us a part of His great global, eternal family! We are never alone!

May his grace and his face shine upon you
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you
And give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
Say it again: And give you peace.
Remember: And give you peace.
Celebrate: And give you peace.

- What are you most in need of today: protection, guidance, forgiveness, human interaction, strength, hope?
- Prayer, joy and action. How can these three interact and support one another?
