Connecting Dots
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
“He who is least among you all — he is the greatest.” Luke 9:48
Connecting Dots
It’s almost thanksgiving. A national holiday set aside to be thankful, grateful for all that we have and all the abundance of our lives. Daily, since the beginning of the month a plain glass jar has set on the table. Daily we have shared one thing we are grateful for that day, written on a piece of colored paper and placed in the jar. Am I more grateful than at the beginning of the month? It is truly an irony of our thought processes that when we begin to notice what we are grateful for, we lose sight of what we believe we are lacking. This perspective takes practice, a thoughtful diligence so to speak! Thankfulness begins to overflow!

What am I thankful for? Jesus. It is easy to take what I have in life for granted, to forget the sacrifice of someone else. My thoughts have been scattered lately but this day I want to focus on the most important part of life. Thank you, Jesus, for your incredible gift of love and life (John 3:16). Thank you that your love endures forever! WOW…forever is a long time…what a promise…what a gift! (Psalm 106:1). You have called me by name, really? Yes, you have assured me that it is so! And I am yours. (Isaiah 43:1) Love your neighbor as yourself! Today I am reminded that there are those without work at a time that most of us think about “feasting.” I am called to not only love my neighbor but love my enemy and pray for those that hurt me! (Matt. 5:43-48). Seek first the kingdom of God. (Matt 6:33). Thankful attitudes lead to servant hearts and willing hands and feet to bless others with the joy of eternal life! (2 Corinthians 9:15). Jesus, Others, Yourself; the JOY acronym. This is a life lived in service to others sharing God’s love throughout life. (Ephesians 2:10).
Today, my prayer will be: Lord help me to pray for those that hurt me first, and to see that you are at work even when I do not understand it. As the sun rises, may I see your face there and, again at the end of the day may I still be singing your joy to others!
4832 Ponder:
What are you thankful for today? Whom can you share this with through email, text, card or call?
Meditate here:
You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace.
The mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands. (Isaiah 55:12)
