Where do you turn?
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Matthew 11:28-30
"Those were the days again, we thought they'd never end, those were the days that..." Do you remember that song?
I remember a time, perhaps 30 years ago, when I was experiencing depression. Many losses... Friends, Finances, Activities, Fellowship. As I walked into our long time church, someone cheerfully asked "How are you?" And, trying to be brave, I said "Frankly, I've been depressed lately." Their response was, "well , good to see you." That was it. They walked off quickly. It took me a long time to go back to or trust a church. Like a decade.
Perhaps that is how some of us are feeling now. This week I heard of a woman that came home and found her husband, father of their 7 children, all under 19 years old, had hung himself. This dad had been married before, and his son from his first marriage, who had a 2 year old, had committed suicide 3 weeks before. Sometimes, living is so hard. And you think your home, your family, your neighborhood, your church should be the place of comfort. But, what if it isn't?
This pandemic. This time of rioting. This time of political dissension. This time of uncertainty. Do you have anyone to turn to? Family, Friends, Church? In this time of social distancing it is not the same as it was. The distancing leaves us disconnected with those connections you could once turn to in times of confusion, hurt, depression or need.
There is comfort and peace. There are people who care. Christ cares. He has been there. He knows our confusion, hurt, pain and need. He sees our world of chaos and willingly inserted His life for ours. In 1 Peter 5:7 it says "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
Do you need help? Can we help, or direct you to a church who cares? Are you a church who does outreach without judging? This is what 4832Truth is about. Someone to listen. Someone who cares. Someone who will pray for your needs. Someone who wants to be the hands and feet and heart and mind of Christ. Through this time of real need, through this time of despondency, may we help? We have trained Christian outreach caregivers, so you do not have to face these times with no one to lean on.
Just email [email protected], and we will respond to your message. We cannot afford live operators at this time so it may take us up to 24 hours to respond. All communications remain confidential.
