Favorite Word
We thank You, God, we thank You—
Your Name is our favorite word;
Your mighty works are all we talk about.
Psalm 74:1 (the Message)
Thoughts on life
This morning, the quiet of the birds singing, bunnies in the yard, and cool air are enough to give thanks to God for life. My mind wanders to the gentle slope of beautiful meadows up against the mountains and once again, I am reminded that life is not only the gentle breeze but also the ravaging wind. Life is sometimes cool, fresh air that revives one’s spirit, and it is the extreme temperature either too hot or too cold that nearly takes one’s breath away. There are gentle slopes to walk and there are also mountains to climb.
What is standing as a mountain in your path today? What is stopping you from achieving your purpose? Psalm 75 begins with giving God thanks, in fact Eugene Peterson in The Message proclaims that the Lord’s name is our favorite word! "Your mighty works are all we talk about!" This is “enough” for life. What if right now we made this commitment: “The Lord’s mighty works are all I will think and talk about because that is enough!”

This day I am praying to thank God for the people of life, the good, the bad and the ugly. I want to understand more deeply that God is working through each of them to teach me something and draw me closer to Him. I hope that tomorrow I will continue to thank God for new neighbors, for health of family, friends and colleagues, for the freedom to say loudly: “The Lords’ name is my favorite WORD!” Today I will think of God’s name…Yahweh! and give thanks and praise for all He has done…and it is enough…
4832 Ponder…
How often do you measure life by “enough?” Are there still simple pleasures in life? Is there time to celebrate the Lord as the favorite WORD of life?

Jon Gordon wrote a book called One Word which was inspirational. Now he has just published The Garden which has quickly become a New York bestseller! Interesting thoughts here during this pandemic time!
