Wisdom of Gratitude
Wisdom of Gratitude
Colossians 3:16-17 New International Version (NIV)
16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Wisdom - the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment; ability to discern inner qualities and relationships; Root word: Wise.

The Wisdom of Gratitude
Over the last few months a 30 day journal has lain beside the computer. The journal is entitled “Everyday Gratitude.” Each day there is a prompt to inspire writing and reflecting on pieces of life and increase thoughts of gratitude. Some prompts have been easy…whom are you most grateful for in your family? What actions are performed daily with gratitude? This quote continues to be a daily reflection: “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it, is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
Today…I am grateful for the people on the frontlines of this COVID19 pandemic across the world who are working feverishly to find a vaccine. I am grateful for all those who are choosing to shelter in place. I am grateful for soap and water to wash hands and wipe down surfaces. I am grateful for technology that allows us to gather with people virtually and continue to be in relationship. But most of all…I am grateful for those who have shown courage to speak the truth in the face of criticism and to follow what they know to be the path even when there has been significant disapproval.
Today is Palm Sunday…a day that begins the week long journey of Jesus to the cross! We are all in the “eye of the storm” of COVID…will we try to outrun this virus (like Elijah running from Jezebel?) or will we with rich wisdom from God give thanks for this sheltering in place and resolutely (like Jesus on His way to Jerusalem) honor God with our every thought, word and deed? The choice is ours! May we continue to stand for the Truth…shouting from our living rooms “Hosanna! Blessed is the Name of the Lord!”
Thought for this day:
How are you checking on your neighbors and family? Phone calls? Zoom sessions? Text messages? Today remember to thank God for the many blessings of this day. Write it down…send a letter…
My prayer today is that each of us would continue to check in on our neighbors asking if they are ok. A phone call, or e-mail, a virtual connection to those who may be alone is encouragement that may bring a smile.

What or whom are you grateful for today? Are you living life in the midst of COVID19 as a daily miracle?
