Peace I give to you
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27
John 14:27
4832 Thought: Peace ... what is it really? There are many forms of it, to young exhausted mothers when their infant sleeps between feedings, to the newly weds crossing into their wedding suite at the end of a ceremony that took months of planning all the minute details, to the heart attack patient coming back into their home after a long hospital stay, to watching the morning sunrise on a clear fall morning ... there are many forms of peace.
But the Peace of Jesus .... "the peace I give you" that He gives willing, is different. It dwells it the Heart, Soul and Mind. It truly goes beyond our comprehension. The troubles that penetrate our hearts and minds in our daily activity tempt us to go back to when we were still His enemies (Romans 5:10 "For if, while we were still His enemies, we were reconciled to him through His death, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His Life"). The temptation is to be convinced we are still enemies due to our own doing, we deserve the punishment, we deserve the anxiety, we deserve the incarceration, we can never be good enough.
That thinking steals the Peace Jesus says He gives to us and He "does not give as the world gives" .... it is not dependent on your proof .... His Peace is dependent only on Him .... He paid the full price as a seal of His Covenant for you with God. Peace of Heart, Mind and Soul ... It is Finished!!!
