Be Still
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

4832 Thought ...
These are times we are being told to stay in, keep our distance .... we do not like giving up control and not knowing what is coming next.
It is the fear of the unknown, being out of our control, anxiety. We see that in the story told in the gospels when Jesus had left the crowds, was sleeping in the boat as He and disciples were crossing over to other side. The seas were very rough, the disciples were afraid for their lives. According to Mark's account Jesus cried out (yelled) "Be Still!!!" and the storm and waves ceased immediately.
Like the disciples we can only see from our worldly perspective, our life experiences when we are caught in times of unknown. It is almost impossible on our own to calm our thoughts, the anxieties from within and without. Romans 12:2 says "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed ... by the renewing of you mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good, acceptable and perfect." Our greatest temptation may be in our own minds when we hear "you can/will be like God" (Gen 3:5). That temptation never has ended and we are swayed by it every day in almost all circumstances. It is so easy to lean on our own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding", that is so contradictory to our own thinking.
It is is within our self talk (our thinking) that we need to be willing to take control (not only bridle the tongue but also our thinking) and say "Be Still!!". Replace those fearful, anxious, panicky, angry thoughts with the Words of God so that you may prove (to your own thinking) what the Will of God is ..... He is always in the boat with us ....He is our Fortress.
4832 Question...
How are you doing during this time of stillness?
What can we join you in prayer for?
