What has Jesus done for you?
There is a popular email that has gone through millions of inbox’s throughout the last couple of years. It is about a story of a person who stood in a long room of filing cabinets. Each cabinet drawer with an individuals name on it. This person looked through the many aisles of cabinets in order to find their own. They stood before it and wondered whether or not to open it and see what it contained. They did and they found a long drawer with every account of sin they committed in their life. It was never ending. This person read through hundreds of accounts of how they had hurt, betrayed, mislead, lied, and lived a sinful life. This drawer held enough evidence to condemn this person to eternal death. Not a promising site at all.
I often wonder how long my drawer is already and how much longer it will become. Paul once wrote the following to the Romans “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do, but what I hate, I do.” Romans 7 :15. This statement so fits my life and maybe yours. I know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, innocent and guilty, but no matter what I do and how good I act, I still deserved to be known as guilty! Guilty of everything that has happened in my life and fills what would be a full drawer in our email example. I deserve death and eternal punishment. In life we can live with that weight on our shoulders or we can live with the truth of Christ that Jesus said “Not Guilty”. You and I have been redeemed with the love and blood of Jesus!
I love stories with a happy ending don’t you? There is no story out there with a happier ending then this. Jesus has redeemed us and given us life with him forever! That is the end of the story, right! Nope, it isn’t. You now have the joy to live here on earth as a REDEEMED CHILD OF GOD who can work with each other to live like Jesus desires us to live. How can you let the news sink in, that even though your are guilty, you have been redeemed and given a life with Jesus forever? How can you help spread the news of redemption and change the things that are keeping you from fully hearing the “Not Guilty” statement said for you? Today is that day! You are loved forever, because of Jesus!
