Light in the Darkness
The contrast between light and darkness is a common point of comparison. If we are unclear, we want to “shed some light on the situation.” The rising morning sun is a symbol of hope that comes with the light of the day.
In our Covid-19 saturated world, it sometimes feels like darkness prevails. Health, choice, freedoms and finances are susceptible to the darkness of the virus. It is menacing.
God’s Word, the Bible, uses the contrast of light and darkness too. Darkness is a symbol of being adrift, confused, or feeling helpless and hopeless. But we are not helpless or hopeless. In these times of uncertainty, it is good to stay focused on the light. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12).” We have that as promise.

How does that play out in your life…today? Where can you find the light of life that comes from Jesus? While our in-person opportunities are now limited, we can reach out to other people. They need to hear from you, just like you need to hear from them. Seek community in new and safe ways. We can turn to many internet sources for inspiration, read, study the Bible, write, draw, sing, dance, play and pray. Other ideas?
We are empowered by our God that cares for us. He shines His light into our lives. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
