Way Out Ahead of Us

When someone asks, “Where’s home for you?” do you answer where you were born, where you grew up, or where you live now?
When Jesus invited us into relationship with him, he invited us into a mission, a lifestyle, and a home to belong to. In the New Testament book of Titus, the author beautifully describes what this homecoming looks like. Read this short passage and look for these three topics:

- What all has God done for us?
- How are we different because of God’s action toward us?
- What is the connection between our relationship with God and the impact it has on our lives and our actions toward others?

Titus 3:4-8
When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.
How does/should this passage promote humility? Gratitude? A life of service?

Closing Prayer: Dear Father, we kneel in honor and worship of You and Your Son, our Savior, Christ, and Lord. May this great demonstration of Your love you have shown to us through Christ change us, shape us, and make us more like You. May we reflect Your love to those around us, wherever You lead. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
