Oh, His Deep, Deep Love

Oh, His Deep, Deep Love
What words would you use to describe your daily, everyday life? Busy, fulfilling, hectic, stuck, rewarding, stressful, blessed? We use many words to describe our everyday activities. Sometimes we frame them more positively and sometimes more negatively. Usually, reality is a combination of both. For example, we grieve the death of someone we love, but we have the hope of eternal life for them and for us. Sometimes we try and fail, but oftentimes there are valuable lessons we can learn from the experience.
Through the challenges and ups and downs of life, we all have a need to be nurtured, supported, and valued by others. We especially need the comfort, hope and assurance that only Jesus gives. Isaiah 49:15 assures us that God will never forget us because we are His people. It even says He has written our names in the palm of His hand!

Jesus gives a promise of presence and peace, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27).” This is comforting during troubling times. It is also important to remember that Jesus is always with us, even when our actions don’t reflect it. One of my favorite worship songs declares, “Your love never fails, it never gives up, never walks out on me.” He is always there for us. There’s nothing we can ever do that will make Him love us less. Nothing.
Jesus encourages us to reach out to Him, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).” And, did you notice, He promises rest from your weariness? He even lived this by example: He took naps! He got away to quite places by Himself. We would benefit by following His example.

Jesus invites us into a daily relationship with Him as we read the Bible, pray, benefit from gathering with other believers, and through worship. Sometimes, we just need to get away by ourselves and rest in the secure knowledge that Jesus loves us, no matter what. When things seem to get the best of us, we need to remember that Jesus is always there. It is with that in mind that we close with a steadfast reminder of the deep, deep love Jesus has for you.
