Our Christmas List

We have a list of folks we know, all written in a book
And every year at Christmastime we go and take a look.
That is when we realize these names are all a part
Not of just the book they’re in, but of a grateful heart.

For each name stands for someone who crossed our path sometime,
And though they may not know it, they’re the Rhythm of our Rhyme.
And while it sounds peculiar for us to make this claim,
We do believe we are composed of each remembered name.

You may not be aware of the love we have for you,
But knowing you has shaped our lives like nothing else can do.
For once you’ve met somebody the years cannot erase
The memory of a pleasant word or kind and friendly face.

So never think our Christmas greeting is just a mere routine,
Of names upon a Christmas list, forgotten in between
For when we send a Christmas greeting that is addressed to you,
It’s because you’re on the list of folks that we’re indebted to.

And every year when Christmas comes we realize anew,
The biggest gift that life can give is knowing folks like you.

So may the spirit of Christmas that forever and ever endures,
Leave its richest blessings in the Heart of You and Yours.
