Declare

Is there a special place that causes you to think of the greatness of God? Or a place that really helps you to focus on who He is and what He has done, and is doing, for you and others? If you do have that special place this Psalm from scripture may help you to express the feelings and love you are experiencing:
Psalm 95:1-7
O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3 For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and the dry land, which his hands have formed.
6 O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
7 For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
O that today you would listen to his voice!
Does that make you feel better just reading it, knowing who God is and how He watches over you? Now, reread and identify those actions assigned to us. You may want to be able to underline, highlight, bold, etc. specific things. Now, look through the passage again and identify the attributes of God and highlight them in some other way.

Having done this, is there any confusion in your mind about our role as compared to God’s? Verse 6 says one way to worship and acknowledge Him is to bow down and/or kneel before Him. That can be done literally, as some traditions practice, but it can also be a call to a posture of mindset and outlook on life. In thinking about that, what would bowing down and kneeling represent?

Closing Prayer:
Dear Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have set in place, I wonder who I am that You are mindful of me; that You care so deeply for me? You have given us responsibility to care for Your creation, and You have especially given us responsibility to care for Your loved ones, that is, for ALL people. Grant that through the power of Your Holy Spirit we may be quick to listen and slow to anger, and a model of Your love and care for all. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Adapted from Psalm 8 and James 1:19
