Spirit of Truth

In the Bible it speaks of the "The Author and Perfector of Faith" and "the father of lies". They deliver to different messages into our thinking. One encourages us in the Ways of Christ, the other suggests ways that are contrary. One is constructive and one is destructive to our relationship with God. Right and Wrong are being confused in our society. How are we supposed to test which is which?
